Dr. John P. Ross is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon. He grew up locally in Barrington, IL and is a graduate of Barrington High School. He attended college at Emory University where he received a B.S. in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology and graduated with honors. He was successful as a student athlete on the Emory Men’s Golf Team, competing yearly in the Men’s Golf NCAA championships. He returned to Chicago to complete medical school at Rush University where he was ranked in the top 10% of his class, graduating with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. He attended the University of Connecticut for his Orthopedic Surgery residency and completed a fellowship in Shoulder and Elbow surgery at Florida Orthopedic institute, a top fellowship for shoulder and elbow arthroplasty. While there, he trained under Dr. Mark Frankle, president of the American Shoulder and Elbow Society, known for his expertise and innovation in the field of Shoulder Arthroplasty. Dr. Ross is proud to return to his home community and provide exceptional care as well-trained local shoulder and elbow specialist. He practices general orthopedic surgery with an emphasis on complex shoulder and elbow problems.

Dr. Ross has contributed to the orthopedic literature authoring several published studies and book chapters. Most recently, he was published in the Journal Shoulder and Elbow Surgery reporting on early results of minimally invasive subscapularis sparing total shoulder replacement technique.

He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons, and the American Shoulder and Elbow Society.

Dr. Ross enjoys spending time with family, playing guitar, and golfing.
